The first of the third session of the Board of Trustees of the University of Tehran Supporters Non-Profit Foundation was held on Tuesday, 14 Feb 2023, with the topic of appointing the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Vice Chairman and Secretary of this foundation, in the Hall of Martyr Haj Qassem Soleimani, University of Tehran. In this meeting, it was decided that the president of the University of Tehran will be the chairman of the board of trustees of the University of Tehran Supporters Foundation. Dr Abbas Mosalanejad, the CEO of Mosalanejad Cultural Foundation, was also elected as the vice president and Dr Mahmoud Kamreie, the chairman of the board of directors of the University of Tehran Supporters Foundation, was elected as the secretary of the board of trustees.
During this meeting, Dr Nasser Gholami, CEO of the foundation, explained the statistical growth of the number of benefactors supporting the University of Tehran and stated that the number of benefactors of the University in 2012 was 32, and this number reached more than 1000 in 2023. He also presented a report on the financial performance of the University of Tehran Supporters Foundation and the commitments of donors in 2022. Providing a financial source for the awarding of the “Exalted Degree of Knowledge”, the first term of which was implemented in 2023 during the joint cooperation between the University of Tehran and the Tehran University of Medical Sciences, was another matter that was discussed in this meeting. Dr Mahmoud Kamreie, as a legal member of the Supreme Council of the “High Knowledge Badge”, stated that this badge will be supported by the supporters’ foundation.
The introduction of investment opportunities and commercialization of university ideas, the quality of student dormitories, and support for talented students were among the other issues that were raised by the Board of Trustees of the University of Tehran Supporters Foundation. Dr Alireza Vajhi, Vice President of the University and Head of the Student Services Organization of the University of Tehran, referring to the constant support of donors, announced the construction of a 100-unit dormitory for married couples with the support of a well-meaning benefactor and the equipping of the University of Tehran’s dormitory library.
Dr Ali Mobini Dehkordi, vice president of the University and head of the development and investment organization of the University of Tehran, also pointed to the existence of various capacities for benefactors to invest in the University, and considered the central laboratory of the University as one of these opportunities and stated that equipping the comprehensive central laboratory of University has entered the stage. It has been finalized and can meet the needs of the country’s laboratories in the field of import and export and laboratory equipment.
At the end of the meeting, Dr Hassan Rahimian, a member of the faculty of Biology, Dr Parvaneh Azmayeshfard, a retired member of the faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr Mehrdad Aalipour, a lecturer at the University of Tehran, and Dr Bita Jamshidikia, as new assistants of the University of Tehran Supporters Foundation in 2022 Appreciated.
